GENOMIC DATA TRANSFER
Data transfer is a very essential and sensitive theme for a successful bioinformatical output. NGS Cloud has servers mainly in Turkey and several different countries or local instances depending on the customer’s need. We offer three standard data transfer options for FASTQ, BAM and VCF file formats:
PECULIAR, a client file upload tool is designed to perform data transfer effortlessly without being affected by internet connection problems and not to jeopardise data security (1) when compared with other methods such as sending by cargo or mailing.
You can access different options from a secure and private area after logging in with your username and password. You can upload your files by dragging them from your local computer, or you can upload them by entering the URL link of the file location. Moreover, Dropbox is also an alternative method.
Theoretically, you can find the estimated data sizes (2) for whole exome/genome tests (Table 1).

The duration of the data transfer strictly depends on the properties of the internet connection. The upload speed of the internet service provider is the most crucial factor that determines how long an upload takes time.
To give an idea, you can find the estimated upload times of WES and WGS data in Table 1 according to different upload speeds (Table 2).
